For our tutorial this time, we are going to be covering Text On A
Path. I get asked how to do this pretty often, so I wanted to share it
with you. This is actually super super easy to do.
First, before you can place text on a path, you need to create a
path. we will do a circle for this tutorial. Paths are incredibly
useful when working with creating things because it tells things where
to go, or where to stay. Once you have a path you can use it to make a
selection, and then remove that selection ( its fantastic for
extractions ) as well as for text or brushwork.
You can create paths from shapes, selections or freely draw them
with the pen tool. Lets use the Selection tool for ours. Chose the
circular selection tool ( its hiding behind the rectangle selection
tool in photoshop ). Hold down shift to keep proportions equal and drag
out a circle. now, select the paths tab if it is not in the foreground
in your workspace ( mine is behind my layers palate ) and see where the
orange dot is on the image below? select that button that says when
moused over "make work path from selection " Now you have your path. We
just need to use it to shape our text.

If you select the text tool, and move the cursor over the path when
you are directly over it, you will get a squigle through your cursor as
shown in the image below

click your cursor on the path while it has the squigle - you want to
do it about halfway through the path in order to be able to utilize all
of it. this can be hard to judge on a circle so you may need to play
around with where you click. Now start typing and you will see your
text follow the path. Its that easy! Hope this helps and that you are
able to enjoy the new things you are able to create.
